Strengthening our faith

Emmaus Course

The Emmaus course is run for people wishing to be confirmed,  both teenagers and adults.  It is often also attended by some people who are already church members and are seeking to deepen their faith.

Lent and Advent Courses

These courses are each a sequence of five meetings, held weekly in the build-up to Easter and Christmas respectively.  They often use booklets from the York Courses series, which focus on exploring some particular aspect of the Christian faith.  There is usually a choice of times, days and venues - with one daytime group meeting in the Morlais Room at church, and with other evening meetings in house groups.  In some years the house groups are co-ordinated by Churches Together in Tilehurst, and provide the opportunity to interact with members of other local churches.

What Next?

From 2015 to 2017, St Michael's ran a development programme based on the Five Marks of Mission framework.  We started with a Parish Day where we looked at St Michael's and our community of Tilehurst.  We then identified some initiatives we could take to develop ourselves and our links with the community, and this work continued into a number of follow-up meetings.
