The Mothers' UnionThe Mothers' Union (MU)

The purpose of The Mothers’ Union is to be especially concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life.

The Tilehurst St Michael's Branch of the Mothers' Union meets twice each month, usually in the Morlais Room at the church.

  • The Afternoon Group normally meets at 14:30 on the second Tuesday of each month.
  • The Evening Group normally meets at 20:00 on the last Monday of each month.

Members of the Mothers' Union are free to attend meetings of either or both groups, and visitors are welcome.

Both groups have an interesting and varied programme of talks, walks, discussions, visits, meditations, concerts etc.  From time to time there are coffee mornings, a Summer Service, and a New Year party.

The Branch and its members support St Michael's and the wider church in a variety of ways, as well as a number of MU projects which have included:

  • Supplying emergency toiletries for patients admitted at short notice to local hospitals;
  • Support to Readifood, the local food bank;
  • Gifts of cookies to university students during freshers’ week;
  • Provision of holidays for local families in need.

The Branch also raises money for MU overseas projects.
