More about Services

The days and times of our main services are described on the Services web-page.  Our services follow a traditional pattern, but in a friendly rather than formal manner.

We normally make use of the Book of Common Worship, using service booklets appropriate to the ecclesiastical season (Lent, Easter, Advent etc).

Hymns are taken from Hymns Old & New.  Our 08:00 service on Sundays is a quieter service, without hymns.

Currently, we celebrate Communion (Eucharist) services at 8am, 10am and 6:30pm on Sundays, and at 10am on Wednesdays.  Members of other churches are welcome to come to the front of the church to share communion with us, or simply to receive a blessing.

On any occasion when Evensong is celebrated, we occasionally use the Book of Common Prayer (e.g. when this falls on the fifth Sunday of the month).

When exchanging the Peace of the Lord, we wave to our fellow worshippers around the church, or exchange handshakes with those near us, saying "Peace be with you".

At all services, donations can be left on the offertory plate before the service starts.  At the 10:00 service on Sundays a collection may [under normal circumstances] be taken during the Offertory hymn.  Gift Aid envelopes are available for donations by taxpayers.  For those wishing to make donations electronically, a contactless card-reader is available.  Church members are invited to participate in the Planned Stewardship Giving scheme.  For more information, see the Stewardship web-page.

We are always pleased to be told of those wishing to receive Holy Communion in their homes.  Please contact the Parish Office.
