Heritage Open Days in Reading

Every year during September, Open Days are organised for members of the public to explore Reading's heritage, as part of England’s annual heritage festival.  All Heritage Open Days events are free to attend, but charity donations are accepted at some events.

In 2024, the various Open Days around Reading took place between Friday 6th September and Sunday 15th September.

The Open Day at St Michael's Church – 'A Celebration of Creativity' – was held on Saturday 14th September from 10:00am until 4:00pm.

Visit our Heritage Open Days webpage for further details of events.

4 July 2024Badge for championing Voter Registration
General Election

We want you to be able to have your say in how this country is run.  That’s why we’re making sure that every eligible person in our church community knows how to register to vote in time for the General Election on July 4th.  Your vote matters! You have the power to influence key decisions on the quality of life you want for yourself, your family and your community.

Get Registered

To have your say, you need to register to vote.  If you aren’t already registered, you can register online by clicking on this link - https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.  You need to do that by Thursday 18th June.
If you need help registering, please speak to Liz Ratcliffe, who will be happy to assist.

Suitable Photo ID needed

Don’t lose your right to vote – remember you now need to show photo ID to vote in person.  For details of accepted forms of photo ID, please visit our Voter Registration webpage or download this PDF document (2 pages, 67KB).

No suitable Photo ID? ...

If you have already registered to vote but don't have an accepted form of photo ID, you can apply for a free voter ID document, known as a Voter Authority Certificate by clicking on this link - https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/voter-id/applying-a-voter-authority-certificate.  You need to do that by Wednesday 26th June.
If you need help to apply for the Certificate, please contact Liz Ratcliffe, who will be happy to assist.
Note that you should register to vote before applying for the Certificate, and you will be asked during the Registration process whether you have suitable Photo ID or if you need to apply for a Certificate.
