Outreach
Our approach to outreach describes how we in St Michael's communicate our Christian faith - both to those who come through our doors and to those who may never have been inside a church.
Within St Michael's, matters of outreach are addressed by the Stewardship Committee of the Parochial Church Council (PCC), including the following aims and objectives:
- Raising awareness of the needs of the world to the Church and Parish;
- Acting as a link between churches and the local community;
- Recommending wise allocations of mission giving;
- Looking out into the community and beyond for ways to spread God's love.
Whilst it is helpful to have a committee to investigate, analyse, produce reports and make recommendations, we believe that putting outreach into practice is the responsibility of everyone.
Who we want to reach out to:
- Children and Young People;
- Young Families;
- Adults (working people and the retired).
Opportunities for Outreach:
- Within Church - for those who already worship at St Michael's.
- With Friends/Colleagues - for fellow believers, within Tilehurst and Reading in particular.
- In the Community - reaching out to those enquirers and non-believers both within and beyond our parish boundary.
